En ce début d'année 2023, Mário publie donc son deuxième projet personnel en quartet Intitulé Chromosome, ce nouveau projet porte un nom exprimant l'écriture fine et sur mesure de Costa, une écriture qui s'est penchée de près sur l'ADN musical de chacun des musiciens du projet. Si l'on garde à l'esprit que la trompette de Cuong Vu se retrouve dans les projets de Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, David Bowie ou Laurie Anderson, que la contrebasse de Bruno Chevillon est une habituée des groupes menés par Louis Sclavis, Michel Portal ou Daniel Humair, et que le piano de Benoît Delbecq a trouvé une place de choix dans l'univers d'artistes internationaux comme Evan Parker, Mark Turner, Steve Argüelles ou encore Mary Halvorson, on peut se faire une idée du rassemblement musical qui a lieu ici.
